I love that you applied a big, fun sports question to your world of work humping, L. Vago. Cool and creative, which is why I did your writing.

It'd be an intriguing exercise to ponder the negative, or questionable, reasons work for a manager viewing LeBron as the GOAT. I do think LeBron has a lot of irons in the fire -- as an investor, movie and TV producer, promoter of his children, among many others. He does seem to possess an unreal ability to focus and compartmentalize -- which, in my view, few people, let along harried managers also wearing many work and life hats, seem to be able to do. I know of managers that call their minions into the office, ostensibly for work reasons, that quickly devolve into complaining about their spouse and desire for a divorce. I am not saying keep your humanness out of the office. But it needs some boundaries and focus. LeBron wears many hats, which many people see. He's excellent at focus, which many people miss, and don't try to do themselves.

As an aside, this line was superlative: "Lord knows I’ve made a fruitful career out of looking hassled on my way to pick up concert tickets from the office printer." So good. And so damn true.

Bravo for an outstanding piece, my man.

Ahh thank you Russell!

And brilliant perspective on Lebron doing a lot and being able to focus...but then being dinged for it by people who assume he must be unfocused. I hadn't thought of that, but it makes a lot of sense.

And omg I've had some bad bosses but thank god have never had to really be anyone's couples therapist.
